Die Antwoord Video Lands in Guggenheim Exhibit

Die Antwoord Video Lands in Guggenheim Exhibit

Earlier this year, we reported that Animal Collective would serve on a jury to see what would make it into a Guggenheim Museum exhibit called YouTube Play, an exhibition of online video art. So maybe the AnCo guys had something to do with this: As The Village Voice points out, the Guggenheim has now posted the 25 videos that made it into the exhibit, and one of those videos is "Zef Side", the first viral missive from the South African rave-rap crew Die Antwoord.

And even though Die Antwoord have been in our lives for the better part of a year now, it's easy to see why the Guggenheim folks picked the hybrid interview and performance video, in all its mysterious, phantasmagoric glory. So the sight of MCNinja's balls bouncing up and down in a pair of Dark Side of the Moon shorts is now exactly where it belongs: In the annals of one of the world's most famous art museums. The exhibit apparently only ran last weekend, but the results live on online.

And because you know you want to, re-watch the "Zef Side" video below.
